Hi Everyone , yes we are back after two weeks of masters games Sunday Juniors returned last weekend with perfect weather and plenty of keen young sailors .
8.30 am Sunday Juniors , After a two week break we thought we would probably get quite a few juniors for this session but I definitely didnt expect 25 junior and first timers in the early session . With the winds swinging n/e to s/e around 4 knots and blue skies and even bluer water it was a perfect morning for everyone to work on their skills . We even had our latest boat a topper taz out with young Kyle really sailing it well . To be honest it was a truly perfect sailing morning for everyone .
10.30 Sunday Juniors ; We started this class with a bit of theory and knots ( figure 8 and bowline ) and you guessed it everyone struggled with the bowline but the deal was no sailing until you completed the knot . Yes there was whinging but as usual we ignored it and surprisingly everyone finally got it right .
The winds still moved around but in the end it went s/e and we set everyone a upwind and broad reaching course which everyone did very well at especially Brendan , Cody , Pat and Jess with everyone else not far behind . Great work everyone !
Club Racing ; With the winds settling into the s/e Peter decided on triangles and windward leeward courses but only short courses due to the barely enough wind conditions . The starts were exciting with a short line and everyone keen to get away the was a bit of yelling and confusion which always makes for a good start . Tom slowly pulled away in both races ( he is really sailing well ) and no one had an answer for his general course speed .
The interesting race was between Casey and Dallas with Casey winning the first and Dallas the second which was mainly due to me setting Casey up for a port start which was a bit tight and she faultered right on the line otherwise she would have had everyone , it will just take practice . Even Pat sailed well considering his old sail I think its time for a new sail on his boat !
