Hi Everyone , Well we are on the down hill run to Christmas and New Year so as usual everything is getting hectic for me not on Christmas plans but Birthdays as well so yep Iam busy.
Last weekend was our annual Try Saiing Hospital Fundraiser and firstly I would like to thank everyone who gave a hand on the day because without everyones involvement it just wouldnt be such a fantastic and fun day . Mother nature wasnt at her best with overcast skies and the threat of increasing by the afternoon .
No sooner had we officially opened than people started arriving so boats we madly being rigged and launched including safety boats and the Jetski which didnt start at first but a quick diagnosis ( loose battery terminal ) by Charlie and myself and we soon had her up and running Lots of our sunday juniors turned up and were soon out sailing and occasionally capsizing Tom was out taking people for rides out the laser as was Greg who also had the 420 out cruising around the broadwater . Andrew was taking people for rides on Sarah Cooper which only arrived back on Friday after a week away getting repaired while also keeping an eye on the sailors . Casey and Charlie were busting a gut to get on the 420 and were soon out there flying around with Charlie steering and Casey on the trapeze , it didnt take long for them to get wet not from capsize but from spray as I may have accidentally sprayed them several times with the Jet ski !!! . Thanks to SYC we also had some stand up paddleboards and mine and Andrew s kyaks which proved a great hit with everyone especially all the kids n, I even saw some of our instructors out on the stand up boards well occasionally standing up . The Jetski as usual proved a great hit with all the kids and some adults lining up for a ride with me with over twenty five kids having a turn and only one nearly lost Junior Jade who fell off in a turn but not quite as I had hold of her foot so she could climb back on board . The jumping castle was also a great hit with sounds of laughter and some screaming coming from that area . When it came time to pack up it was hard work but everyone lent a hand washing and storing boats and paddle boards oh and kayaks . Once everyone had left Casey Charlie and I after sitting in the shade for 20 minutes ( absolutely exhausted ) we finally had enough energy to finish pack up and go home .
Christmas Party:
The Christmas Party is this Sunday at 11.00 am with a catered lunch and barbeque we already hjave around forty people booked and paid ( adult $15 Junior $10 and family group $40 ) so if want to come along and enjoy some christmas cheer just let us know and yes you can pay on the day. I nearly forgot that we will be operating 8.30 am Juniors but no 10.30 Training as we will be setting up for the Party.

Hi Everyone , Iam a bit late this week but as everyone knows Christmas is just around the corner and our Annual Hospital Fundraiser is on tomorrow so we have been flat out preparing everything for Sunday while still doing school sailing activities with yesterday being the biggest school group with 71 kids trying sailing for the first time . What a day it was with bright sunny skies and light winds allowing everyone to have a turn at sailing including capsizes . A special thanks to Edwina Charlie Torin and Greg for putting up with the heat especially at pack up time as we were all starting to feel it by then.
Not much happened last weekend with only five juniors and that was it so once it was obvious that we werent getting anyone for 10.30 we decided that all the instructors would go for a sail . So we all rigged up ( Casey Charlie Torin Abby Declan Edwina and me and off we went . We ended up just below Ephriam Island and with a high tide it was perfect for a sail with a 20 plus know northerly blowing wich made for an easy close reach right accross the Soverign Channel and then a broad reach back into our channel . As the wind increased (25k ) we really started motoring on the broad reach surfing off waves and just generally yahooing , we will have to do it again as it was just great fun!
As I said earlier its our Try Sailing Day tomorrow so we need everyone to bring their friends and family along to help us support the Hospital that does such a great job in the community !
Finally dont forget that our Christmas party is on Sunday the 15th starting at 11am after morning juniors so if you want to come along you can sign up at the club tomorrow or just let us know via email or mobile and we can save you a place ( catered event ) it should be great fun in the relaxed atmosphere of the club .
