8.30 Sunday Juniors ; After early morning showers it was absolutely stifling setting up for the early session but we still managed to attract a reasonable group for the early class and with the winds coming from the s/e it was perfect practice conditions . As usual we had two new sailors who went out with Hunter and Casey for their first go and seemed to really enjoy the experience , yes we did allow capsizing as well it was too hot not too !
10.30 Sunday Juniors ; OK it was still hot at 10.30 and we did loose a fair hunk of wind but with everyone keen to get on the water we set them a pretty difficult upwind / downwind with heaps of current and after a bit of coaching from Kyle and me we managed to show everyone how to manage the conditions and we were pleasantly surprised at how everyone went . Truly everyone in the class did exceptionally well with standouts like Lachy , Cody and Parker showing the way . We did finish a bit early mainly because it was just too hot !
Junior Racing ; Despite everyone saying they wanted to try this new format we have only got Parker signed up so far so come on everyone come and give it a try it really is fun!
Open Racing ; We are trying this year a bigger racing calendar with race 1 last Sunday being a pre season series and despite the light conditions we still had 9 boats at the start line in around 2/4 knots from the e/s/e . It was definitely conjested at the start line with the tide trying to push everyone over which managed to trap a few starters including Casey who was completely shut out and started last but still came back to finish first in 4.7.
With the light conditions with the Adults it was a blanket finish with JP and Peter just getting there before the rest . Race two saw a wind increase around 1 knot and with a great start by everyone it was a much faster race with everyone shaving around 10 minutes of the previous race time including Mike who you guessed it fell out again , gotta get that guy some glue shouldnt have told him how to make it go faster downwind ?
Upcoming ? We are at present negotiating with Surf Life saving Queensland to run a First Aid Class at the club , so if you are interested in learning or renewing this valuable life skill let us know so we can put your name on the list , not sure of cost yet but will let everyone know soon .
