Hi Everyone , If you dont know why there wasnt a newsletter last week well it was because I was sailing off the NSW north Coast and yes it was great fun even though we didnt have really favourable conditions but with John Townley , Christy Gearons help we managed to bring Public Nuisance to its new home to become part of our total sailing experience !
8.30 Sunday Juniors ;
Sunday started with blue skies , smooth water but very little wind , with our keen junior sailors turning up and keen to go we did finally get a light breeze from the n/w so we set the team off towards Ephriam Island on a gentle reach and with new juniors like Tain and Charlie really lapping the conditions up with Tain hiking out ( he,s six ) while Charlie worked the sail it really blew their dad away . Ollie also had a go on his own and with a little help from me he also managed to sail the course especially after he stopped facing backwards . The rest of the group like Mary and Ava practiced their steering and especially their gybes with great success so it was a great mornings effort for everyone .
10.30 Sunday Juniors ;
With the winds building from the n/w around 6/7 knots we set a triangle course but starting with a reach across the broadwater first just to get everyones eye in it turned into a great session with Cody , Declan and Abbey racing around the course that is until Abbey forgot to duck again and had to retire hurt leaving Cody and Declan to absolutely smoke around the triangle course , they really attained some good speed and despite being a bit rough on the gybes they really did well . Now for the next couple of weeks it will be start training leading up to the Bendigo Bank Youth Cup .
Open Racing ;
With the race being a non club championship race we only had ten boats at the start line after Dallas pulled out early from a serious headache .
Pete decided to run two short course races as the tide was building on the out and the winds were only around 7/9 knots . We set a windward leeward and one triangle in our channel and even though everyone struggled they managed to beat the tide around the course with the first boat Peter F finishing in just under 22 minutes . Race two turned out to be very easy as just before the start the wind turned n/e at around 10/12 knots so it was virtually a straight run to A mark rather then the previous race where everyone had to tack their way to A and again Peter F came home first .
All in all a great day on the water
Bendigo Bank Youth Cup ; We have already recieved entries for the Youth Cup and club boats are being taken up fast so if you want to secure a club laser or bic for the event check with me at the office .
Fundraiser ;
We are again holding a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Arundel on July 8th so if you can spare some time let us know at the club on the weekend , these fundraising days generally raise in excess of $1,000.00 which goes towards club safety equipment .

Hi Everyone , Well with it being mothers day and also raining it was always going to be a quiet day for sailing which it definitely turned out to be , I have to admit I was happy to go home early especially after another drive to Sydney and back .
Sunday Juniors 8.30 am ;

With drizzling rain and very little wind it was a very slow start but we did manage to entice 5 sailors to have a go . The wind was around 3/6 knots S/E so it was perfect for our junior sailors but definitely not a day for falling out as it was cold in the water . Addy had the open bic to herself and with my help holding the boat she practiced her gybes which I realised is really easy in the bic as you just hold the main sheet and the back handle while they gybe . Addy eventually went out on the course and followed casey around in the laser . One draw back I had to stand up to my waist in the water . I should also mention Hado who sailed well all session how do I know ? because I didnt have to say a word to him for the whole session well done HADO !
SUNDAYJUNIORS 10.30 AM;
With only one sailor turning up being Declan he had the distinction of having a one on one lesson with me in what turned out to be very difficult conditions as the wind kept changing direction and alternating between 1/5 knots . I have to say that after a few laps with me telling him what to pull on let off and how to read the telltales he then did several laps of the course with me just standing back and watching and did very well .
Open Racing ;
With the winds dying even more the guys decided to cancel the afternoon race as not only was the wind dying but the outgoing tide was increasing so it would have just been a towing fest . There,s always next week !
Public Nuisance ;
Is now in Port Macquarie with myself and two other sailors going down on Monday to bring her further north . Thanks to Andrew , Peter Parry , Roger Margot and Paul crick lyon for their efforts at getting her there with lots of rain and at times very little wind .
Bendigo Bank Youth Cup ;
Yes its getting closer so if you are thinking of entering come to the office on Sunday and complete an entry form
Dredging ;
With the ever increasing sand bar in front of the club I have applied top council to have the area dredged as its from the council stormwater drain which pumped masses of sand out during the recent cyclone so lets hope they have it done soon as even Sarah Cooper is running aground .

Hi everyone , With constant S to S/E winds at the moment its creating great sailing weather both for our learners and experienced sailors . The morning are starting with winds around 4/7 knots and then increasing as the day goes on . Ok there is the occasional windy day like last Thursday ( 25/30 knots )when I had a high school group for their first sail , even though they didnt get on the water the at least managed to practice rigging and knots ! better than nothing Right ?
8.30 am Sunday Juniors ;
With a group of 14 young sailors turning up for this class and good sailing conditions with sunny skies and an average wind of around 6 knots from the South it was perfect for Kyle to set a nice reach accross the channel so that everyone could practice steering and tacking and gybing  yes even gybing . As usual Addy sailed well even though it was only her second go at the Bic with Mason a close second showing good tacking and gybing skills even if he did fall out of the boat while steering .
Who else ah yes Mary who continues to improve in the laser with Caseys help , her steering and tacking got a few positive comments from some of the parents on the beach.
10.30 Sunday Juniors ;
As usual we started a bit late due to the usual chip run but with a bit of a hurry up we managed to get them through a briefing and on the water by 11 oclock . The session firstly involved tacking and gybing then we sent everyone off to the yellow special mark south of the club for some long windward leeward sailing . Declan , Cody and Jonah really nailed the upwind with a few of the others struggling a bit but at least having a go . Ben had a go at the Bic and like everyone found it very unforgiving with a few swims but Iam sure he will be back . As he is the most experienced in this group I had Jonah doing the multiple gybing down wind again and he is definitely starting to nail it as he didnt even fall out this week great work mate !
Open Racing;
With the winds settling in from the S/E at around 12 knots Peter set  a course starting at the canal and going all the way to the yellow up the top of soverign thinking that it should take everyone over an hour to get around but the first boat home ( Greg ) did it in just on 50 minutes so we decided to see if everyone would like a second race and of course they did with race 2 starting at the club and going to A twice . There was some very good racing in both the Adult and Youth sailors with both Greg and Casey getting away well in race 1 and never being headed and a much closer race especially for Casey and Dallas with Dallas finishing only just in front of Casey at the finish . Tom was going weel also but he did an illegal shoulder charge on a starboard mark which slowed him down a bit . All in all a great days sailing .
Public Nuisance ;
The guys are again going south this weekend to bring the yacht one step closer to home with its projected next port of call Port Macquarie weather permitting .

Hi Everyone , We are starting to feel the first of the winter chill with the water temperature down around 22 degrees so its definitely getting close to wetsuit time and if thats not proof enough that its starting to get cold just the look on a couple of faces on Sunday when people fell in certainly gave it away .
8.30 am Sunday Juniors ;
With blue skies and light winds it was a perfect morning for the early class and with again some new beginners coming along for their first experience at sailing we had 13 juniors take to the water with the help of a couple of our junior instructors and Ben Roake who had his first real attempt at becoming an assistant instructor and did really well showing one of the new sailors how its done .
Addy had a go at the open bic but found it a bit of achallenge even with Dallas,s help so she ended up in a Tera and Mary successfully steered the laser around the course with Dan as crew . Well done everyone !
10.30 am Sunday Juniors ;
With a keen group of seven sailors and with winds increasing to around 12/15 knots from the s/e we set a reaching course with originally tacking and gybing but as the wind speed increased we restricted everyone to tacking only . The stand outs on the day were Declan 4.7 laser who was absolutely flying and Ollie and Abbey who got a seven out of ten from me for their performance in the tricky conditions . Jonah continued his march forward in skills as did Hado and Cody until he capsized and floated under the bridge where Dallas jumped on and sailed the boat back as Cody was absolutely buggered , the moral Code is dont go so near the bridge in a southerly !
Open Racing 1.30 pm ;
Pete and his crew set a pretty long course with the top mark up towards the top of Soverign which created a great up wind battle with John T out in front and Greg and Tom have their usual set too behind him , Tom did manage to get in front on thr return to A mark only for me to blow it for hom by telling everyone that he hag got in front of aGreg only to see him capsize at the turning buoy ( forgot to let the vang off ! ) . All in all everyone sailed well with James Maurie and Ross albiet with crew ( his son ) really enjoying the conditions and Casey coming home first in the 4.7 with Charlie and Dan following behind .
Public Nuisance ; we have everything we need to continue the gourney home and it is looking like the following weekend we will have enough crew to sail her up the coast .
Canteen ; The canteen is an intergral part of the clubs fundraising and we are always looking for a few volunteers to help out when they can so if you think you can spare us some time on Sundays just let us know and we can run you through the set up . Also dont forget that we will need a few volunteers on both Saturday and Sunday of the Youth Cup at the end of June .
