Well, it looks like mother nature has returned to rain,  wind and then no wind followed by the rain. That sums up recent weather conditions.

We are still looking for volunteers for both the Bunnings Barby (1st June) and The Bic Mid winter cup (28-30 June). If you can spare a couple of hours (or more) please make use of the links below.

Sunday Juniors

We only had a small group of junior sailors mainly due to Mothers Day, but those who attended had a good sail in light to moderate conditions with a couple of collisions ( usual ) and then capsizing !!!

Yes it was cold but they still wanted to capsize.

A special mention goes to India whose sailing just gets better every week.

Junior Racing

Again we had a hardy bunch turn up for Junior racing with good medium winds and the occasional gusts just to liven it up.

Conditions were a bit difficult but I personally took great satisfaction in nearly everyone coming to me and asking for fixes to their sailing problems on the day. See, I told you Sienna that if you pull the sail on before you tack it doesn’t get caught on the transom with some good tacks resulting.

Everyone is improving each week with Patrick really settling in and the Bic boys keeping up with the challenging Bic Skiffs.

With only seven competitors on the start line it was an easy start so I blew it! I still have no idea why I was so far back.

Tom Slocombe, Roger and I had a great tussle to the top mark, with me just getting to mark A in front. On the down wind, Tom again just got in front before the Gybe mark and then very kindly capsized allowing me back in front.

At that time my outhaul decided to unravel which meant the upwind was full of roundups for me.

Tom and Roger
managed to get away and then Michelle overtook me on the way to the finish line. I mustn’t forget to mention both William and Trish both of who,s sailing has definitely stepped up a couple of notches in recent weeks.

Must be all that coaching Trish?

Paul Hand was away at Lake Catharaba last weekend competing in the states and unofficially finished in the top ten.

I say unofficially because one of his sail numbers fell off so several finishes weren’t recorded.

Paul tells me though all in all he had a great weekend.
