8.30 Sunday Juniors ;
With the water slowly clearing and the winds settling down it was a much better day for sailing than the previous weekend and with a light breeze out of the S/S/E it was perfect sailing conditions . Although the group was small everyone had a great time sailing a reaching course . Mary ( 9 ) and Ava ( 6 ) had some time on the laser with Casey as coach and despite some early scary bits ( WILD GYBES ) Ava managed to finallly do some good steering and Mary just took it in her stride ! well done girls .
Sunday Juniors 10.30 ;
With conditions settling from the S/E and a strong outgoing tide we set this group a windward leeward course which with a bit of individual coaching everyone managed to come to grips with we then selected Jonah and Lewin for a bit of down wind gybing which certainly got them thinking while the lasers worked on upwind and running returns to the bottom mark . We didnt practice racing on the day as we thought it would be better if we worked especiall on everyone upwind skills .
Open Racing 1.30 ;
With the winds still coming out of the S/E but a bit flukey Peter and I set a course starting at the canal entry with A mark just north of runners then B up nearly at the top of Ephriam , we were originally going for three laps to Soverign but the wind was threatening to drop so we went back to two laps and of course we should have stuck with three as it didnt drop . Greg scooted away early with Steve trying all through the race to catch him and Casey in the 4.7s managed to break away as well with some very good light wind sailing which made Pats , Charlies , Sienna,s and Brendan job just to difficult to try and catch her .
DONT FORGET EVERYONE WE ARE CLOSED OVER EASTER !
