8.30 am Sunday Juniors ; With the first chill of winter evident we didnt expect many participants for the early lesson . We had our regulars in Ava Mary and Addy with Mary and Ava sailing together and Addy having to call for Pats assistance as the conditions were just a bit above her weight . Mar and Ava sailed exceptionally and drew a comment from one of the new dads at how well they handled the boat and also Addy with Pat as ballast , there,s some real future talent there . Thank you also to Charlie and Lewin for taking the new sailors for their first sail and keeping them dry.
\10.30 Sunday Juniors ;
With the wind out of the S/E at around 6/8 knots we set a triangle course and after a discussion about how to attack the course we sent everyone out for practice . I was clear pretty early in the piece that everyone was coming to understand the course so we decided to have a couple of four lap races . In the bics Jonah and Alex really sailed well and in the lasers Declan really went well also that was until his tiller pin fell out , Parker had a lot of fun finding sand banks and Lewin had a big crash on the down wind resulting in a banged knee which put him out towards the end .
Open Racing 1.30 pm;
With the winds now settled in the S/E at around 8/12 knots Pete and I set a course starting at the canal and heading for runners canal then back to the club ( which Greg doesnt like much ! ) then back to runners then off into the soverign channel . Greg and Tom had an epic battle with Ross right on their tail and would have finished that way except Tom went low on the way home and allowed Ross to sneak past and beat him over the line for second . In the 4.7s Casey , Pat and Dallas had the same type of tussel with very close sailing throughout and Charlie Sienna and Brendan following behind . The finish was even closer than the adults with only 1 second splitting Dallas and Casey and Pat a further 30 seconds behind . I must say I have suggested that they all start checking the rule book especially with the Bendigo Bank Cup coming up in June .
Public Nuisance update ; she is presently resting in sydney while we organise a fuel pump , alternator , headsail repair and a few D shackles and we hope to return in around two weeks to continue the voyage,there should be some more interesting stories to tell in the next episode . Do we need crew ? maybe so if you have a bit of offshore experience and can spare a couple of days let us know .
A special thanks to Casey and Abbey who took on the canteen on Sunday and did a great job despite the odd coffee mishap ! great work girls in supporting your club .
