Hi Everyone, just heard we won a Gold in the Lasers and a Silver in the Nacra and the Finn class is also a medal chance. Despite the usual low profile of sailing at the Olympics, we still manage to bring home the Gold. Now you all know why I love sailing Lasers, they are just so competitive !

8.30am Sunday Juniors

With bright sunny skies and winds slowly settling from the south at around 6/7 knots it was a great morning for sailing. We had such a large number of juniors, that we had to rig a couple of Lasers to accommodate our new junior sailors. Everyone absolutely reveled in the conditions with everyone really giving it a crack. I heard from Tianna that Hado was absolutely nailing the tacks and generally going quick. The funniest was Ruby and yo-yo (it's not her real name I just keep forgetting it) but these two girls once they got going in a Tera never stopped laughing and smiling, what a morning of fun !

10.30am Sunday Juniors

With the winds now settling from the South around 7/9 knots, we set a long course across the channel so that everyone could enjoy the winds, then we put in a triangle which did challenge a few people but created a really good reach with people like Shaun and Jess in Lasers really scooting along. Rowan got a bit frustrated with stalling in tacks in the Bic, but we are going to work on technique next Sunday so hopefully we should be able to rectify it then. I will hopefully have all the 10.30 class people come and watch the tacking process as once the learn it the will be creaming all their tacks.

Open Bic Racing

Thanks to Jonah, who despite having no real competition at the moment, he still gets out there and gives it his all, hopefully as Summer approaches we will be able to send a few new Bic sailors out with him and they can learn of him .

Open Race

With the winds really settling in from the s/e around 14/17 knots, it was a perfect opportunity for Peter to set up a long windward leeward course combined with a low tide so no channel markers. With the start/finish in front of the club it was a fast start with only Sienna getting swamped by the fleet taking off last in line it was always going to be a long day for her.

Meanwhile up the front Peter and Macca in full rigs and Steve in the radial rounded the top mark for the first time with Casey right on their heels ! Yes, Casey in a 4.7 ! I have never seen her sail so well upwind. Simone Charlie and Pat were not far behind but as the race went on the two full rigs got away finishing in just over an hour and forty then the Radial which after a lot of effort from Steve finally shook of Casey who lead the rest of the fleet home in fourth. Great racing all round !
