Hi Everyone , It looks like we have covid back and also a nasty flu virus with Jade and her mum coming down with covid and Charlie and Tom contracting the flu so take care everyone I have had my booster shots and also a flu shot so fingers crossed its all going to miss me . Our new saftey boat is slowly taking shape and should be on the water soon and yes its the big white boat currently in the cage I am in the process of cleaning the fuel system as she has been in storage for 4 years so the fuel is dirty , luckily I managed to buy a trailer last week for her as well which we will use until we have an aluminium trailer built as we had to borrow sarah trailer originally so poor sarah had to weather last weeks storms inn the water . We only had one issue which was she broke a mooring line but as we always double up when she stays overnight we still had the back up holding .
Excitement is also building for Yepoon whith another one of our junior sailors ( Xavier ) signing up as well so that means we now have four sailors in the junior Bic fleet so well done everyone .
8.30 am Sunday Juniors
It was great on sunday seeing a hardy group of young sailors signing on for this class and with the majority being girls it was left up to Xavier and Zack to hold up the boys tradition of trying to out sail the girls . As promised we set Laya up in a Bic for the first time and with Daniel instructing her from shore she was soon out there giving it a go , we could even see the smile from the shore .
Conditions were great with winds changing from n/w to s/s/w so there was some hurried course adjustments by Jason and the crew to keep the team sailing . I have to mention Tristan for his outstanding sailing effort as he was sent away from the group on an upwind course which he absolutely blitzed , Charlie and I at first couldnt believe his upwind but he just kept doing it so well done captain ! I only hope that we can keep the current number of girls sailing  as its great to see them noy only sailing but also having fun on the water which doesnt include capsizing right Savannah ?
10.30 Youth Training ;
With most of the crew back we had a good group for this session and with the winds turning s/e at around 6/9 knots it was perfect for a nice triangle so we left the two early marks in place and just added the green starboard mark . Taylah and Ross were really nailing their tacks and gybes and were even yelling up-up on the upwinds I suppose it saves charlie and I doing it , there was even a protest hearing afterwards so some explanation needed . Daniel showed that his recent trip to manly for youth week really paid off with his general sailing awesome to watch showing great boat control . With yepoon not far away it seems to me that all the sailors need to look at wind angles more as there was a perfect opportunity to do some sailing in the lee on the down wind back from green so yes guess whats on the cards for the next lesson . Opps I should have mentioned Reece and Harvey as you guessed it covid has struck their household as well hope you are all on the road back to good health.
1.30 pm Open Racing .

Charlie and Taylah were put in charge of running the session as they both want to become coaches so practice makes perfect . We used our southern course so starting between ephriam and soverign and place the top mark down near runners and the down wind mark at the top of soverign . The original winds were around 10 knots but during the race it did gust up to 16 knots making the upwind a bit punishing so everyone said I am not sure how true this is because the start boat crew didnt give me a report so Iam only guessing ? so yes I will be asking for a report in future from the crew now that should be interesting .. I will added last weeks results in next weeks report.

Update :

Our canteen which rarely gets a mention had a great day as well and earned just over a hundred dollars for the day so thank you Kelly for your efforts as every penny counts these days , and the coffee is good as well !

CU on the water
