Sunday Juniors is still cancelled for next sunday as we are looking at a mini regatta for all our youth sailors who have worked so hard this year to prepare themselves for bot Mid winter Cup and Youth Week even the weather is looking good and we might even use our new minion buoys .Just as a reminder that both our holiday camps are filling fast so if you want to book in send the club an email requesting a enrolment form.
8.30 am Sunday Morning Juniors
With only the three sisters turning up it was an easy group allowing me to sit on the shore and watch the team in action and yes they all did well with Charlie Guy and Taylah in charge on sarah cooper while Ross , Jade and Dan helped the girls improve their sailing . It was an easy course with the wind out of the N/W at around 4 knots so perfect for the sisters who have only just learnt to steer . Harvey and Reece also rigged Bic,s and joined in but sailed a longer course especially Reece who practiced his reversing skills under the bridge that no sail zone is tricky right Reece ? Harvey was sent off to the green channel marker which included a good downwind that had Harve flying at times as the wind speed increased to around 10/12 knots S/S/E yes it went from N/W TO S/S/E
10.30 Youth Training
With most of the laser sailors out of action it was only the Bic sailors who ventured out .
daniel and jade just cruised down the track and back as it was an expression sail for them , they even swapped boats yep not sure why as they are exactly the same ? these two sailors have been training hard as have the laser people so it was good to see them out there just having fun and yes the both fell out of their boats while returning to shore and yes we all laughed as usual. Their upwind sail to Runners was excellent to watch with great boat speed and good close hauled sailing..
1.30 pm Racing
With the wind increasing to around 12-15 knots S/E Charlie and Taylah set the southerly course with the start between Ephriam and Soverign and yes they had to obey Nav Marks .
Casey turned up as she had an rdo from work and she was keen to get out there amongst the boys who by the way were keen to beat her . I was told by Charlie that the start was clean yes I wasnt there it was just Charlie . Taylah and Kyle who organised the whole race , I managed to have a day on shore definitely much warmer there . Reports had Nic our front early but after stopping to clear weed of his rudder you guessed it he capsized leaving Greg in front closely followed by you guessed it Casey then Steve . Greg pulled away a bit when casey got the mainsheet caught around the end of the boom ( we have all been there ) and had to gybe to get it off . apparently she gave greg a real run for his money to the finish line as he was still puffing 5 minutes after returning to shore . Unfortunately for Steve he cracked the floor in his boat which will need MAJOR repair or maybe Steve a new boat ?
