8.30 am Sunday Juniors ; For everyone who turned up on Sunday you will have noticed that we have gone back to our armband system why ? mainly so that we can not only keep track of all our junior sailors but to also hopefully generally improve their sailing by giving them extra sailing challenges as they travel up our five level sailing system . Back to sailing and Sunday was just perfect for our early class with light winds shifting around the east which gave everyone the chance to either improve their skills or learn new ones We had over twenty budding sailors out there practicing their skills in both crewing and steering , all in all a great morning .
10.30 Sunday Juniors ; Again the armband system was in play so that we can get a better idea in regards to what we need to teach everyone . The focus was on gybing which is always a challenge for most sailors and with winds from the e/s/e at around 6/8 knots it was perfect to practice this skill . Jasmine was having some trouble down at the southern buoy so I jumped on board and showed her how its done rather than keep following her around the course . There was the occassional swim but generally everyone to improve this skill through practice and commitment . I have to say that on the reaches everyone was flying and it looked absolutely awesome .
Open Racing ; With Peter setting a windward leeward course in the outer channel and the winds increasing to around 15 knots it was again absolutely perfect conditions for racing with the winds now coming from the n/e and the start line down near runners it was a long work up to the top mark and then a hairy gybe around the mark and back to b twice . Yes there were a few dodgy gybes with Casey Simone and Russell coming unstuck which resulted in Russel pulling out due to gear failure and Simone pulling out due to exhausting after several capsizes . Both Dallas and Tom excelled in the conditions even though Dallas went for one swim he was simply uncatchable in bothe races must be the new boat right Dal .
