Hi everyone , Well firstly how did the windsurfing state titles go ? In a nutshell it was a great weekend with mother nature giving the fleet varied conditions from 6 knots to 20 knots plus so some ordinary and some awesome sailing over the two days especially on the really windy races where these sailors just blitzed the upwinds and yes there were quite a few capsizes on the downwinds which just added to the colourful spectacle . They did get caught out with the broadwater currents with a couple of general recalls which were a bit of fun especially when the air horn failed so we had Sarah C as fill in sound signal boat . A special thanks to Kelly and Nola who looked after the canteen and sausage sizzle each day and also Greg , Tom , Chris who crewed Sarah as safety boat . Lets hope they pick our club again in the near future .
Bookings are now being taken for the club Xmas Party on the 18th of december and again it will be held at the club , if you would like to come along just ask or email the club to secure places for your family and yes its always fun especially for the kids !
Holiday junior sailing camps start from the 12/12/2022 with four camps over the break so if you want to book the kids in for some fun and learning contact the sailing office as numbers per camp are limited .
8.30 am Sunday Juniors
We werent expecting a very big group for 8.30 but we still managed to have 8 keen sailors sign on and with all these keen young people out rigging early all boats were soon down on the beach ready to go. With the wind out of the north roughly Charlie and Guy soon had a course set for everyone reaching accross the channel in around originally 3/5 knots which luckily filled in to 5-7 knots consistant . Daniel had his own student in Orson who had asked if he could be taught tacking and he actually picked up the tacking really quickly and Dan soon had him out with the group around the reaching course . Torsen and Zack were just cruising around tacking and gybing with especially Zack really nailing the tacks and gybes could be time for him to think about 10.30 training Class Dad !. The funniest part was the two sisters Leila and Halle who managed to capsize their boat over the mud and you guessed it got the mast stuck so Charlie had to come in and help them right the boat as she was really stuck ! the boat that is the girls were just screaming but thats normal for them and there was even talk of sailing separate boats next week?
10.30 am Youth Training .
With Jade and Ross away it was only Taylah Daniel Reece , Harvey Laya and Xavier on the water in around 6/7 knots so after the normal briefing discussing the last sail well to be honest it was me discussing the last sail as I was the only one who could remember that far back ! So what did we discuss well we discussed downwind sail set and upwind sail set which innitially drew blank stares from everyone but as soon as Imentioned the show and tell part where Daniel showed them how its done while they followed on the powerboat it started to come back for everyone . To start of they were all told to gybe around the marks set near the club then off we went down the channell and I must admit some of our newer sailors sailed much better than two weeks previously especially Laya and Xavier who both l;ooked much smoother both downwind and upwind so well done guys and keep up the good work . Reece and Harvey are at a stage were we need to think of extra challenges as they are both doing so well at this time . Taylah and Daniel really just did some freestyling with Daniel sailing off down the channel then doing a very sharp upwind back toward the club . To further enhance this group we have come up with a plan for 2123 for a ten race Youth Rcaing Series which as soon as I finalise the NOR I will post it on line and at the club so everyone can have time to register .

1.30 PM Open Racing
Well with people away and others having surgery ( matt ) and only Tom turning up you guessed it the marathon was cancelled . We are possibly doing something next sunday weather permitting but even that is a bit dodgy with the current forecast is for rain and strong wind so we will have to wait for the weekend before making a decision .
