Hi Everyone , Well after a perfect sailing day on Saturday Sunday was certainly a complete turn around weather wise so it certainly made for a challenging day for all ages of sailors .
8.30 Sunday Juniors;
With people ringing early and being told no for the less experienced sailors we still had around 12 juniors turn up for this session but noting the weather conditions Tianna and I decided that rather than not let them sail that we would rig some lasers and sail with them . Dallas was the first out in around 16/20 knots and was really flying then Tianna , Casey Pat and myself got out there and really had some fun . My first crew was Rowan but she only did one lap and asked to go back in , I think she has never been that fast before !
Tianna finally capsized as did Casey , Pat and Dallas and Dan who didnt duck in time and ended up with a sizeable bump on his head so a visit to casualty was made just to make sure and yes he was fine if not for the headache .
10.30 Sunday Juniors ; With only Jess turning up and the winds actually dropping we sent her out and she just cruised around in around 16 knots , even Abbey went out and cruised around with her .
Rcaing ; The winds really started to blow around 12 at 20 plus knots so everyone was looking a bit apprehensive but then around 12.30 it started to back off again so Peter went out and laid a windward leeward course down to runners and back . It was a great start for the fleet of 13 boats despite Trish capsizing in the middle of the start line inside the 4 minutes . Charlie and I helped get her upright and going again and to her credit off she went with the fleet . It was Tom the Greg and Casey who really nailed the start with Tom slowly getting away from Greg and unfortunately Casey suffered a rig failure ( my fault as i repaired it ) and pulling out in the second lap followed by Trish then a lap later Simone had a couple of swims due to her hat getting caught in the main sheet block which finished her day as well . Our sole Bic sailor Jonah did struggle a bit with the stronger winds but he still managed to complete the race .
Club Training : At Tuesday nights committee meeting it was decided that for the summer months we would start after school training from 4 to 6.30 pm on Tuesday , Thursday and Saturday , it wont be for beginners but more for those who have gotten up to steering level and will include thr Tera,s , Opoen Bic and club two up dinghy sailing . If you are interested please put yor name done at the club on Sunday .
Upcoming Event ; Sunday the 30th of October we are holding a rescue boat familiarization day and also a canteen procedure day as part of the lead up to the masters games starting on the 4th of November everyone is welcome to come along and see how it all happens !
Masters form 4th to 13th November .
Try Sailing Day Sunday the 11th Dec
Club Xmas party we are looking at holding this event away from the club this year and we have Peter Board looking into venues .
