Sunday Juniors 8.30 am;
With blue water and sunny skies it was a perfect morning for nearly twenty junior sailors to head out in front of the club and sail a leisurely reaching course . Of course Ruby and Ava capsized on purpose , how could I tell the laughing and squealing gave it away. As the lesson progressed the yellow boat crew got a bit bored and started splashing people and even managed to capsize Siebren one of our original sailors in the Bic who came for a visit with Pat just to catch up .
Sunday Juniors 10.30 class ;
With everyone either wanting to sail lasers or Bics it was a bit rushed for boats so a few people had to sail Teras .
Kyle set a long course down to the canal and we kept moving the club buoy closer to closed hauled as this seems to be everyones weakness . Some got it even Ollie who just laid across his bic for most of it and then there was Lewin who absolutely smoked out there especially on the upwinds . Of course younk Kyle could have done as well if he had remembered the bung , yes after about half an hour he just kept stalling and capsizing resulting in a drainage effort that went on for half an hr . Dont worry Kyle we have all done it !
Open Racing 1.30 pm
With a couple of newbies in Jess and Brendan the fleet was 15 boats at the start line but was soon reduced to 14 with Charlies retirement due to a nose bleed . Winds were great from the e/n/e around 12/14 knots and with two races on the adjenda Peter and Tianna set a really fast course in both our channel and into the soverign channel . Mike one of our new sailors managed a impressive forward roll capsize at the gybe mark yep stuck the nose in and that was that anyway it wont happen any more right Mike because you have brought another boat ?
Dallas also pulled out with a snapped gudgeon and Siebren with a traveller eyelet pulled out of the deck in a gybe , all in all the yellow boat had a busy day towing . Last race this Sunday due to Masters Games !
