I suppose that at least I have an excuse when I start talking about this years Christmas Party at Paradise Point Bowls Club because everyone already knows its coming .
Sunday Juniors 8.30 ;
With surprisingly light winds considering the forecast was for 20 plus knots we had a group of fifteen sailors on the water and with winds around 4/6 knots from the s/e it was perfect conditions for this budding group of sailors . OK we did have a couple of under bridge experiences ( right Kyle ? ) and the odd capsize but overall everyone really had a great session . Although everyone did really well the standout at the end was little Ava who with Caseys help cruised around steering a laser , whats so special about that she is only six and her tacking was just great . Well done Ava !
Sunday Juniors 10.30 ;
With the winds picking up and heading a bit more south it was again just perfect for training which was closehauled upwinds and broadreach returns . The upwinds were mainly our target because in the past this is what everyone really struggled with . Tianna Kyle and I were actually presently surprised with how everyone actually listened and managed to after a few false starts manage to successfully sail around the course . Cody in the laser excelled even dad was blown away and of course Lewin just took it in his stride . We did make one change for the future and that was Parker will now sail lasers as he is just too tall for the Bic .
Open Racing ;
With the winds now building from the s/s/e Peter and Tianna set a course starting at the club down to Runners and up to the middle of Ephriam just one lap but two races . Dallas diidnt even make the start with another rudder failure and Dan pulled out as he was too overpowered in a radial , maybe he should have listened to the coach right Dan?
Tom Casey and Greg blitzed the start in race one with Tom slowly pulling away with a combination of weight and that carbon fibre top ( it just bends so nice ) Maurie had a moment at the Gybe mark and ended up with the main pulling out and getting tangled under the boat and Michael had another one of his spectacular capsizes .
With a few retirements it was only Greg Tom Casey and Dallas and Dan two upping in race two and by now it was getting a bit wild out there and I am sure everyone was happy that we shortened the course because it was hard work out there .
