Sunday 13th September - Sailing

Hi Everyone , firstly thanks to everyone who turned up on Sunday for our maintenance day. Everyone worked so hard it was amazing . We managed to overhaul the big trailer ( thanks Pete ) , Aidan and the girls did the bearings , the kids painted and dug up grass , the guys and girls did doors , painting , cleaning and even replaced the Tera goose necks . All in all a very good afternoon .

8.30am Juniors

With the warmer weather definitely on the way and again with a few newbies coming along for a try , we ended up with a pile of kids and thanks to the help of our more experienced juniors everyone had a great sail . The winds were generally North so we set up three marks with the third one over near Ephraim so everyone had a choice of what course they could sail . Even the Birthday girl steered the laser with Casey ( HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVA - 5 )

10.30am Juniors

With the winds settling in n / ne and increasing to around 12/14 knots we initially sent Kyle and Ollie out together because it was starting to gust to around 14/16 but after about 10 minutes we brought them in and set them off in their own boats . I don't know how they did it with only two Teras on the water but they still managed to have a head on collision ??? .

I have to say the standout was Ollie as he seems to have finally got the tacking thing down pat , they were absolutely perfect well done Ollie!!!

Training

With Dallas on Wednesday and Jonah on Saturday we worked on upwind with both boys picking up how to really go to windward in preparation for the upcoming Bic Races at SYC well done boys .

Don't forget everyone who has reached level three is welcome to come along to Training just give me a call .

Additional Notes

Finally if you are interested in either helping in our club canteen as a part time volunteer or want to learn our rescue boat procedures its on this Sunday 20th September at 1pm, no charge for either session .
