8.30 am Sunday Juniors ;
With warm weather and blue skies sunday should have been a great day for Junior sailing but mother nature didnt want to co operate and gave us strong winds ( 6/12 knot and gusty ) which made life very tough on our juniors . We set a course in close to the club but Glen and Casey in the safety boat were soon attending to capsizes and boats getting caught in the corner which required towing out , Addy went well at first but finally the gusts were too much and Casey had to jump in and sail her boat back . We finally pulled the pin a bit early as the wind started to gust around 15 knots so we sent everyone in for a warm shower .
10.30 Sunday Juniors ;
With the winds now settling in at 15/17 in the gusts and with only Ollie and Kaleb turning up for the session we set a course straight out the front of the club as the wind had turned more north . Ollie was keen to learn more about tacking and boat speed so after a chat on shore away he went and after a few laps he really started to nail it and I have to say lately his sailing is really improving . Have a look on facebook if you want to see how he went . Kaleb did struggle mainly by not having the main on enough and this caused a few swims but at least he was out there giving it a go !
Open Racing 1.30 pm ;
With seven keen sailors at the start we sent them off down to runners twice before then sending them all of to near the top of soverign in winds around 17 knots dropping to around 12 knots by the finish back at the club . Again Tom got a break and slowly pulled away from Greg and Peter must be that carbon top right Tom ? as it certainly seems to work well in a breeze . As usual I forgot the phone as there were some really good sailing especially the start with everyone right there at the drop of the flag . Our newest 4.7 sailor Decklan struggled a bit apparently there are a lot of sand bars in the broadwatrer that really slowed him down , you have to learn to miss them Dec !
New sailors ;
We have a couple of new laser sailors in Pablo and Dan n who provided the entertainment with plenty of capsizing and sailing under the bridge and of course getting stuck under the bridge but they both assured me they had a great day and will be back again . good luck guys !
