Racing started with blue skies and breeze of 6/8 knots predominantly from the East (certainly a change from the 25/35 knots of the previous weekend). The fleet of 16 boats went for a run up to the top of Sovereign Island where a triangular course was set with increasing current and inconsistent winds. Just what everyone hates.
John Musgrave and Chris Connell (new boat and good to see him back racing) had a very close race all the way to the finish line, with Chris getting over the line 1 second in front of John .
The rest of the fleet followed in hot pursuit. Well, as hot as you can get in 6 knots .

I did feel sorry for one of the full rig sailors who due to a certain problem with his top section (bent like a banana) had to fight off the radials all through the race. Apparently there is a Xmas present being hinted at to the better half. I hope it wont be sent the same way as some deck fittings apparently stuck in Jamaica thanks to Sandy.
Rumor also has it that a certain Open Bic sailor ( blond hair ) while standing up fell out of the back of the boat. I have always said sitting down is safer . Apparently in his after racing summary that night this little item was overlooked but never fear I told his Dad on Monday.
I would also like to thank our Local Division 3 Council Member Cameron Caldwell for including us in his recipient list for local community grants. We were successful in receiving a cheque for $2,700.00 which is being used to purchase new PFD's, rigging rope and a six boat Tera trailer.
