Well finally we had some decent weather on Sunday for not only Juniors but also racing .
We only had a small group of Juniors in the first lesson who sailed in 3 to 5 knot winds but unfortunately only one person ( Charlie ) turned up for the second class. We assumed that the conditions kept most people away . Charlie helped with rigging the 470 and then we sent him off for a short sail when the wind came back.
Weather wise, it was a very interesting day with storms building in the west and then splitting before it reached us and going north and south with a final decision on racing only being made around 12.45 .
I have never heard so many extreme weather warnings over the VHF and I must admit it had Ted and I constantly watching the heavens for the first sign of bad weather.
The wind on the day started at around 4/5 knots and by the end of the race reached 15, with the first boat home being Maurie in just over 1hr and 40 min.
Lastly, don’t forget to invite all your friends to the try sailing fundraiser on the 16th of December.
You can get hold of the flier HERE.
Lets' make it a big day and don’t forget all proceeds raised on the day will go to the children's ward of Gold Coast Hospital .
Good Sailing!
