Spring Series - Race 8 held on 25 Nov 2012 and Everything Else

The Birthday

Just in case you didn’t know Paradise Point Sailing Club is 4 years old as of last Friday !

It only seems like yesterday that a group of people came to me to see if I could help them start a sailing club dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing for kids and their families. As usual, not fully thinking the consequences through, I immediately said yes and then the forms & paperwork began ...... and is still going on, in ever increasing amounts.

But you know what, its been worth every minute especially to see the smiles on the children's faces as they learn and have fun on the water.

The Race

Racing on Sunday was an exciting affair with winds at times reaching 20knots with a course set to take advantage of the wind angle providing some spectacular reaching and broad reaching in amongst some heavy duty gybing and swimming.

The winds seemed to reach their peak just after the start and continued to late in the race dropping back to around 10/12 knots at the end.

Inter Club Race

We have invited Oxley sailing club to brig their Open Bic dinghy's down and compete with us. We have a tentative date of December 9th. We will also be looking at a sausage sizzle after the race as a "get to know you" with more inter club events on the cards for next year.

A Special Mention

A special hats off to young George Morton who not only helped with the Juniors in the morning and then raced the Bic in the afternoon but also sailed all day at his school regatta (TSS) on Saturday.
That's dedication for you !

Try Sailing Fundraiser

The Try Sailing Fundraiser is slowly coming together with us finally receiving approval for the Jumping Castle form The Gold Coast City Council today and to answer everyone's questions: yes, the 470 will be finished and sailing on the day !
