Things have been very slow lately at the Club with consistent cancellations or races due to the ongoing weather. We managed to run Juniors on the 24th Feb as well as racing (Race 5 - two races), but this last weekend was a total washout with heavy rain and wind gusts in excess of 30knots. Sailability has set up a crane mounting on our pontoon as part of their temporary operation at our club, but like the rest of us they have not been able to operate due to this weather. They are getting as frustrated as us and the rest of the Gold Coast with this weather. Lets hope the sun comes out and we can get back on the water. |
George Morton will be off again at Easter to compete in Perth at the
Bic Nationals and the club wishes him all the best in his endeavors.
George probably doesn’t know it but he is developing quite a following among our bunch of Sunday Junior sailors who look to follow him in their future sailing experiences.
Their one saving grace on the day was that they managed to sail a 420 backwards faster than they were going forwards, at times, which impressed both Pieter Verstoep and me .
