Hi Everyone ,

I have finally had time to write this latest update. As usual this time of year its just so hectic that time slips away .

Firstly, thank you to all the members who turned up for the Try Sailing & Hospital Fund Raising Day yesterday.  Without your help and support these events wouldn’t be the success that they have been .

We managed to increase the number of people who came along and tried our sport from last Xmas by 25%. Whenever you looked on the water yesterday there were members and guests out sailing and most of all - smiling .
Although the 470 and 420 aren’t completely up to speed they were certainly a big hit with not only the novice sailors but also with our members.

I know of at least one person who will be feeling a bit stiff
and sore today after spending time on the trapeze with me yesterday.

A lot of slipping and sliding and one spectacular reverse entry into the boat ending with knocking Adam Rose clean out of the boat ( nice one from Gordana ).

We must also thank the Paradise Point branch of the Bendigo Bank for loaning us their marquee and for organizing a second marquee from Upper Coomera branch.

Finally,  thank you to Kyle from our local Councillors office ( Cameron Caldwell ) for visiting us at the Xmas party and expressing Cameron's continued support for community groups like us both financially and with helpful advice.

Spring Series - race 10 held on 9 Dec 2012

Last race of the season was held on Sunday the 9th of December with an around Crab Island race with good wind conditions and not too much boat traffic.  Apparently some people didn’t read the race instructions properly and took and extended course at the top of Sovereign Island ( Mark Brown ? ) - apparently some people need to study up on navigation marks and their meanings.

A special thanks to Oxley sailing club for bringing four open Bics down to compete with our two boats. The race was eventually won by George Morton which was a fantastic effort considering his capsize at the start and starting second last .
The boys and girls from Oxley said they had a great day and especially enjoyed sailing in such open water conditions compared to their normal river sailing . The club will hopefully be able to return the favor next year with a visit to Oxley.
